Silly policy!

If I don't use the textbook, I am going against the orders from the higher authorities..the main people who wear their heels and suits in the main office, going on trips here and there under the name of improvement and finding newer technologies in teaching. But do they know that the Form 4 and Form 5 textbooks is nothing like the SPM examination paper?  Yeah, I use it for the grammar section and comprehension texts, still I got to adapt it to portray the real thing which means making my own sets of q's with relevance to the texts in the book which is time consuming considering I have 5 classes of different abilities.

So hello you people, revise the textbooks please..then I would surely use it religiously and not resort to taking things from the net or what was complimentary given to me.. Sorry, I am not a hardworking teacher whatsoever, just one who is juggling her life, family, career and setting up her lodging in the Gulf..See, I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD!!!

It would be easier if the textbooks were exactly like how the question papers are, biler kita photostate banyak kena tegur, tak fotostat budak2 nih tak menyalin and it wastes time. Nak suruh beli buku latihan, Ayoh Wang paham2 jelah pelajar2 sini. Cobaan..

Seventeen year ago, when I started to take up tutoring those poor children around my new neighbourhood, I began to feel the way you feel now. To my horror I found the text books were of extremely poor quality. Since then I have been using books authored by English writers themselves, throwing to the wind the Malaysian syllabuses and the so-called formats.

One of my visitors is a Master Teacher and a specialist in this language. I enjoy sparring with her because she can take criticisms as much as she is ready speak her mind in a lady-like manner.

If teaching gives you joys, take in your stride all the stupidity you come across. It is salt and papper in life, hard to take individually but are necessary for good taste.
